The Department provides fire code enforcement, fire prevention education, fire investigation and is responsible for citywide emergency planning. Recognizing the sanctity of life and safety, the mission of the GFD is to protect all citizens and visitors of our community. To achieve this task, the department is proactive as well as progressive in recognizing education as a corner stone of our defense. The men and women of the GFD approach their job with a professionalism and dedication which is borne of an understanding that in times of crises they must be prepared.
